Indian army via ReutersAt least four people died and several others are missing after an avalanche hit the state of northern Uttarakhand, the authorities said.
A rescue operation was underway after the avalanche won the road construction workers in the village of Mana, which shares a border with Tibet on Friday.
About fifty people buried under the snow and the debris were rescued, but four died of their injuries, the Indian army said.
Helicopters have been deployed in the search for five people who are still taken into account in the Himalayan mountain state, he added.
Uttarakhand’s chief minister in the head of state, Pushkar Singh Dhami, said that the rescue teams were “continuously engaged in emergency efforts” following the avalanche, which struck a border road organization camp.
He added that the government was determined to provide all the possible help to affected people “in this hour of crisis”.
Images Posted on X Friday, by the Indo -Tibetan border, the police showed that rescuers carrying people on civilians and walking through several feet of snow – even if more snow continued to fall.

“Only workers working on border roads remain in winter,” he added.
“There is also a certain presence of the army there. We have heard that it is raining in the region for two days. Road workers were in a camp when the avalanche struck.”
On Friday, the meteorological department of India warned strong precipitation and snow in the northern states of the Himhal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Friday, as well as Jammu-et-Cachemire.
Orange alerts have also been issued for snowfall in several districts of the Himachal Pradesh and Jammu-et-Cachemire.
