Friday, the era of Thomas Tuchel in England officially begins. The three lions go to the field for the first time under the 51 -year -old German, where they welcomed Albania in a qualifier of the World Cup in 2026 in Wembley before welcoming London in London three days later.
The debate was widespread since the former manager of Chelsea, PSG and Bayern Munich was announced the replacement of Gareth Southgate last year.
There have been a lot of discussions on the selection of players, team training and if it is the man to finally lead the men’s team to the glory of the World Cup for the first time in 60 years.
Here are four key questions before the first Tuchel match in charge.

How will a German first German manager in England?
When the FA appointed Sven-Goran Eriksson as the first foreign director of the male team of England in 2001, the reaction was a general indignation.
In the years that followed, the response to the prospect of a head coach of the non-English-speaking national team has been somewhat softened. Fabio Capello took care of in 2007 while Sarina Wiegman was a great success – and above all, won a trophy – as director of lionesses.
However, there have been criticisms when Tuchel – who is from the great rivals of England football, Germany – was announced as a male boss in October.
It is likely that some skeptics are not entirely won until Tuchel delivers silverware – namely the 2026 World Cup – but with a proven record of winning trophies, the 51 -year -old has a chance to make a strong first impression against Albania on Friday.
What system will the team adopt?
After leaving his job in MAPIED in 2014, Tuchel would have made a trip to Munich. There, he met Pep Guardiola, then the boss of Bayern Munich, and the pair spent hours at the dinner table, moving the salt and pepper factories during a deep tactical discussion.
Tuchel cites Guardiola as a major influence and it is not difficult to see the similarities, especially in perfectionism, agitation and, perhaps above all, success.
The German won 11 major trophies, including the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021, but it remains to be seen how he will set up his team of three lions.
At the start of his career, Tuchel favored a system of three waiting, using a 3-4-2-1 training during his stay at the Blues. However, more recently, he opted for a more traditional traditional structure built on a rear four.
“He wants high standards, set from the first day.” 👊

Who will get the head sign?
Many were made of the first selection of the Tuchel team. There have been calls for the first time for Miles Lewis-Skelly and Dan Burn, while the inaugural team of the new manager also saw surprising yields for Marcus Rashford and Jordan Henderson.
But the remaining question is who will make its starting eleven. Will the new manager opt for the experience or will he opt instead for a young blood? Will he experience, or will he choose what he thinks is his strongest team of the available players?
Anyway, despite his reputation as a disciplinary, Tuchel is renowned for his skills in men’s management and his human touch. A Christmas in Chelsea, Tuchel would have imported 200 Caisses from Lebkuchen – sweet honey cakes – from a bakery in Germany so that everyone at the club has a gift.
It was an incredible week for Dan Burn and we like to see him. 👊🏆

Will Dan Burn Fairytale continue?
Some things, they say, improve with age. This is a notion that could well apply to Dan Burn from Newcastle United.
If the 32 -year -old man wins his first ceiling in future matches, he will become the oldest male beginner in England since Kevin Davies made his international arc – and the only appearance – against Montenegro at the age of 33 in October 2010.
If Burn feature, he will rank 21st among the oldest male beginners of the three Lions, sandwich between Jack Smith in Portsmouth (32Y 354D) and the goalkeeper of Manchester City Frank Swift (32y 276d).
This would mark a few remarkable days for the player born in Blyth, who put the opening goal while the Magpies missed 2-1 winners on Liverpool to Wembley to raise the Carabao Cup and put an end to the drought of the major trophy of the club of the club.
