Liverpool maintained his six-point lead at the top of the Premier League with a simple victory over Ipswich this afternoon.

Visitors have now conceded 10 goals in two games after their 6-0 defeat against Manchester City last week and, in truth, they were desperately outclassed in Anfield while Arne Slot’s men accessed victory without leaving Second speed.

Cody Gakpo continued its beautiful season with a splint, with Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah also on the target.

Jacob Greaves drew one back late, but the boys of tractors placed in the 18th remain deep in relegation problems.

Szoboszlai puts the reds in front

Ipswich held up in a discreet opening until Szoboszlai broke the dead end of the first serious opportunity on each side after 11 minutes.

The captain of Hungary was played by Ibrahima Konate, exceeded a challenge and fired in a Low in the lower right corner.

It was far too easy from an Ipswich point of view with Szoboszlai finding too much space to work.

Kieran McKenna made five changes after the defeat against City, but one of the incompeters, Wes Burns, lasted only 26 minutes before descending with what seemed a serious injury.

The international of Wales went to a stretcher and the afternoon of Ipswich took another tour for the worst when Salah doubled the advantage of Liverpool nine minutes later.

Gakpo was the creator with a crossing of the left and Salah did the rest, controlling the ball instantly before destroying Christian Walton from a tight angle for his 100th League goal in Anfield.

It was 3-0 before half-time with Ipswich offering no resistance.

Ryan Gravenberch whispered a dangerous ball from the right that Szoboszlai turned to the goal. Walton made a good stop, but Gakpo was on site to turn the rebound.

Too easy for Liverpool

The second half was a walk for the local team with the game as good as at the break.

The intensity has dropped, although Liverpool stayed well at the top.

The fourth goal arrived after 66 minutes with Gakpo again on the target. Trent Alexander-Arnold curled up in a brand cross and the Dutchman took ahead of his marker to nod with his head in front of Walton.

Alexander-Arnold almost entered the act, but his 25-meter break effort passed the amount with Walton Battu, before he got closer four minutes later with a shot that bounced on the right post .

Alisson was finally called to a serious action after 84 minutes with an intelligent stop to refuse to George Hirst, but the Brazilian international was beaten in the last minute, the head of Greaves noding the beginner Julio Encisco in the net.
