California Governor Gavin Newsom ordered the State’s conditional liberation board to conduct a “complete risk assessment survey” On Erik and Lyle Menendez, To determine if they present “an unreasonable risk for the public” if they are released from prison.

Wednesday, Newsom made this announcement during a segment on his podcast, “This is Gavin Newsom”.

“The question for the board of directors is simple – Erik and Lyle Menendez, they pose a current, which we call” an unreasonable risk for public security, “said Newsom.

“Risk assessment will be carried out because they are generally carried out – by public security experts as well as legislative psychologists.”

Newsom described the evaluation as a “common procedure carried out by the State”.

“After that, there will be an audience that works as a standard parole audience, offering the district prosecutor and the victims a chance to be part of the process,” the governor’s office said in a statement.

Newsom’s office explained The fact that the legal standard in California to release parole is whether an inmate presents an unreasonable risk for public security, which must be determined before the governor can make a decision on his switches.

“This process does not mean that there is a guaranteed result, but it shows that we make our reasonable diligence, ensuring transparency, keeping public security in the foreground, assuring us that the process is just for all those involved and getting closer to a conclusion,” said the Newsom office.

In November, Newsom said he would postpone any decision on the Menendez brothers affair before the courts and local prosecutors.

“The governor respects the role of the district prosecutor to ensure that justice is done and recognizes that the voters have entrusted the elected prosecutor of the Hochman district to ensure this responsibility”. Newsom’s office said in a previous statement. “The governor will recover and analyze the DA-ÉLU of the Menendez case before making decisions by Clémence.”

The Newsom office told Fox News Digital that the governor’s decision was part of a greater announcement on the actions of Executive Clémence which he will publish later on Wednesday.

California Governor Gavin Newsom asked the State’s conditional liberation board to conduct a “risk assessment survey” on Erik and Lyle Menendez, who, according to him, is a common procedure carried out by the state.

Newsom said the results of the risk assessment will be shared with the Los Angeles Superior Court judge presiding over the case, as well as the Los Angeles district prosecutor Nathan Hochman and the defense lawyers.

“There is no guarantee of results here,” said Newsom. “My office performs dozens and dozens of these leniency exams on a coherent basis, but this process simply provides more transparency, which, I think, is important in this case, and provides us with more reasonable diligence before taking a determination to the leniency.”

Newsom’s announcement comes less than a week after Hochman asked the court to reject the Menendez brothers’ request for a new trial.

Hochman quoted problems with evidence, saying that she did not meet a norm high enough for a new trial.

It comes from months after the old Da George Gascon Cited of new evidence in the form of a letter suggesting that the brothers may have been abused by their father as a reason for a new trial.

“We have again watched the Letters credibilityIn particular, this supposed letter supposedly Andy Cano 1988 weighed in the continuum of lies, and he calls for a drastic question if it is in fact a letter of 1988 written by Erik Menendez to Andy Cano about these sexual abuses, “said Hochman at a press conference on Friday.

The letter would have been written eight months before the murders of their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez, in 1989 by Erik Menendez to his cousin Andy Cano, and detailed of the sexual abuses alleged by their father.

The letter was not found that several years ago, said the lawyer for the Menendez brothers.

The family of the Menendez brothers condemned Hochman’s decision in a previous statement shared with Fox News Digital by their legal team.

“Prosecutor Nathan Hochman brought us back to 1996 today. He opened the injuries we have spent from decades trying to heal,” the statement said. “He did not listen to us. We are deeply disappointed with his remarks, in which he has effectively torn new evidence and discredited the trauma they have known. To suggest that the years of abuse could not have led to tragedy in 1989 is not only scandalous, but also dangerous.

“Abuse does not exist in a vacuum. It leaves lasting scars, reclaimed the brain and traps the victims in the cycles of fear and trauma. To say that he did not play any role in the action of Erik and Lyle is to ignore the decades of psychological research and fundamental human understanding.”

The press release added that he was “absurd” for Hochman to say that the evidence should have been submitted to the trial.

Hochman also noted that Newsom has the Petition of Clémence on his desk and “he can do what he wants, when he wishes, and we will treat in the next two weeks with the problem of resistance”.

If Hochman’s office continues on the renowned road, Newsom still has the last word. If the sentences of the brothers are reduced to something that would make them eligible for parole, the governor has the right of veto on the decisions of the commission of parole. He could also issue a leniency or forgiveness by himself.

The renowned hearing has been pushed by almost two months due to the devastating forest fires in California.
