Mexico will wait until Sunday to reveal the countermeasures at the 25% prices of Donald Trump on his goods, said President Claudia Sheinbaum.

Sheinbaum said on Tuesday that his country’s response would include both pricing and not tariff measures.

But it left the door open to new negotiations to defuse the emerging trade war, emphasizing both the economic damage caused by the prices and the cooperation of Mexico with the United States against fentanyl traffic and organized crime.

The Mexican president denounced the reasons given for the decision of the White House as “offensive, defamatory and without substance”.

By announcing the prices the day before, the United States allegedly alleged that “Mexican drug trafficking organizations, the main fentanyl traffickers in the world, operate without hindrance due to an intolerable relationship with the government of Mexico.”

Sheinbaum said she would have a phone call with Trump this week, probably on Thursday.
