Nominations for the awards ceremony were announced in November 2024 and women dominated the categories across the board. Beyoncé led the pack with 11 nominations for his eighth studio album, Cowboy Carterwhile Charli And Billie Eilish has accumulated eight and seven nominations respectively. Sabrina Charpentier, Taylor Swift And Chappell Roan all scored six each.
A few months later, as wildfires raged in Los Angeles in January, some Hollywood events have been postponedbut the Recording Academy said the Grammys would go ahead as planned. Instead, the show will focus on wildfire relief efforts.
“This year’s show… will convey a renewed purpose: to raise additional funds to support wildfire relief efforts and honor the courage and dedication of first responders who risk their lives to protect ours,” said said the CEO of the Recording Academy. The letter continues: “In difficult times, music has the power to heal, comfort and unite like nothing else. The Grammys will not only honor the artistry and achievements of our music community, but also serve as a platform to amplify the spirit of resilience that defines this great city of Los Angeles.
The Recording Academy also launched the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort in conjunction with MusicCares with a $1 million donation. The letter highlights that the organization has already distributed $2 million in emergency aid through additional contributions.
