To channel Adam Brodythe character of The COthis year it was truly Chrismukkah, like the first night of Hanukkah fell on Christmas Day.
Gwyneth Paltrow kicked off the celebrations on Wednesday, December 25 by lighting a menorah with the activist and fellow actress Noah Tishby.
“I think my favorite [memory] that’s when I go back to my grandparents to get the Hanukkah gelt,” Paltrow recalled in a social media post. videoreferring to traditional chocolate pieces. “I have a very strong memory of the round gold coins and my brother and I tearing them apart.”
Paltrow grew up celebrate Christmas and Hanukkah like his mother, Blythe Danneris Christian, while her father, deceased Bruce Paltrowwas raised Jewish.
Now that Paltrow is all grown up, she’s making sure to bring Hanukkah traditions into her home with her husband. Brad Falchuk and their blended family. (They each share two children of previous marriages.)
“We always light the menorah,” Paltrow said. “We always get together and after we light the candles, it’s very sweet actually, we all hug each other and bring the light.”
