Adapted from the manga of the same name of Yūki Tabata, “Black Clover” by Studio Pierrot takes place in a world where everyone can use magic. We follow a young boy named Asta who has no magic competence and rather acquire antigagic capacities. Asta is growing by focusing on physical strength, motivated by a dream to become the next sorcerer king (despite his magic). The story then focuses on the trip of Asta, joining a team of warriors known as Black Bulls and faced with increasingly dangerous threats.
The rapid rhythm of history, the creative power system and the dark world with an interesting and poignant vision of courses, inequalities and discrimination all helped make “Black Clover” a popular spectacle with fans. Unfortunately, the anime caught up the manga of Tabata in 2021 and took a break – even if it followed the story with a film in 2023.

Here’s why it’s the best way to look at “Black Clover”. The special episode is linked to the main story, so it should be regarded as part of the main series, but once you have entered the film, things become a little delicate. This is because “Sword of the Wizard King” – that we called One of the best versions of Netflix of 2023 – Technically, takes place between episodes 157 and 158. The problem is that the film also spoils things from the last episodes of the anime so far, so it is better to watch it after having finished with the anime, knowing that the story takes place technically earlier.
