Cristiano Ronaldo recently celebrated two years with Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, but marked it by expressing his desire to win more titles.

The Portuguese superstar, who was named the Best Middle East Player of 2024 at the Globe Soccer Awards, has maintained a remarkable goalscoring record with 74 goals in 83 appearances since joining the club on a free transfer in January 2023 .

Looking back on his journey in Riyadh, Ronaldo, who turns 40 on February 5, shared his thoughts with the league’s official media channel.

He said: “I am happy and my family is happy. We started a new life in this beautiful country. Life is good, football is good.

“On an individual and collective level, we are still there; we are still improving.

Having scored over 900 career goals and holding the men’s world record for most international goals, Ronaldo also highlighted the progress of the Saudi Pro League since his arrival.

“For me it is an honor that the league is growing and that many star players are coming to make the league even better and more competitive,” Ronaldo said.

“Being the first – let’s say a star – to come here is an honor, but what I’m looking forward to is the next five to 10 years of the league continuing to get better.” Not only the first teams, but also the academies.

“Not just for the future of Saudi Arabia [players] and the league, but for the country and to compete with other leagues, that’s my dream. And that’s what I’m going to try to help the country and the league achieve and be there at that level.

“People look at Cristiano as an example, not only on the pitch, but also off it.”

Since joining Al Nassr, Ronaldo has helped the team win the Arab Club Champions Cup in 2023.

Although the club failed to win any further trophies last season, they made history by scoring a record 35 goals in their first full campaign in the Saudi Pro League.

Reflecting on his achievements, Ronaldo added: “You know when you win titles things get easier, and to have the privilege of winning in my first year here, my first trophy was incredible.

“But I want more. I will continue to push and help my Al Nassr team win titles. I believe this year will be a good year for Al Nassr.

“It’s difficult to compete with teams like Al Hilal and Al Ittihad, but we are always here, always pushing and fighting. Football is like that; there are good times and bad times but, for me, the most important thing is to be professional, to push hard, to respect the club, to respect your contract and to believe that things will change – that Al Nassr tries to win more titles.

“THE [AFC] The Champions League is something I want to win for the club, but the most important thing is to keep pushing and be professional.
