The supreme chief criticized the United States for abandoning the nuclear agreement and imposing sanctions, questioning the value of talks.

Ayatollah of Iran, Ali Khamenei, said that the United States’s offer to speak on its nuclear program is an attempt to deceive global public opinion, when a letter arrived from US President Donald Trump urging negotiations.

Trump said last week he had sent a letter To the Iranian management to ask for negotiations on a new agreement with Tehran to restrict its nuclear program in advance rapid.

The letter was given to the Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Wednesday by Anwar Gargash, diplomatic advisor to the president of the United Arab Emirates.

While the two officials met, the supreme chief told a group of university students that Trump’s offer “is a deception aimed at shaping world opinion”.

“We have negotiated for years, reached a complete and signed agreement, then this person tore it,” said Khamanei. “How can we negotiate in such circumstances?” … When we know that they will not, what is the interest of negotiation? »»

He referred to the 2015 nuclear agreement that Tehran signed with global powers to reduce his nuclear activities in exchange for the relief of sanctions. In 2018, during his first term, Trump unilaterally withdrew the United States from the agreement and imposed new economic restrictions on Iran. Tehran replied a year later by violating the nuclear borders of the agreement.

Since his return to the White House in January, Trump has reported his desire to negotiate while restoring his policy on “maximum pressure” on Iran.

Khamenei said that negotiation with the Trump administration, which, according to him, has excessive requests, “will tighten the node of sanctions and increase pressure on Iran”.

Iran has long denied seeking to develop a nuclear weapon.

“If we wanted to build nuclear weapons, the United States could not stop it. We don’t want it ourselves, ”said Khamenei.

However, the Iranian Uranium stock enriched at up to 60% of purity, almost the level of around 90% weapons, jumped, said the International Atomic Energy Agency at the end of last month.

CSNU meeting

Araghchi also denounced Wednesday a meeting of the United Nations Security Council behind closed doors (USC) on Iranian nuclear work as a new process which question the good will of the states that requested it.

Six of the 15 members of the Council – France, Greece, Panama, South Korea, Great Britain and the United States – requested the meeting on Iran’s expansion of its uranium stock close to the quality of weapons.

Araghchi said Iran soon would have a fifth round of talks with France, Great Britain and Germany – from the parties to the Iran’s nuclear pact 2015.

“Our interviews with Europeans are underway and will continue … However, any decision of the United Nations Security Council or the United Nations Watchdog Council of Watchdog of the United Nations to put pressure on the legitimacy of these talks,” said Araghchi, according to the state media.

In addition, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said China and Russia will hold talks Friday, with Iranian officials in Beijing to discuss the Iranian nuclear issue.
