Islamic State leader in Iraq and Syria killed, US says

An Islamic State (IS) group leader in Iraq and Syria was killed in an operation by members of the Iraqi National Intelligence Service as well as coalition forces led by the United States, Iraqi Prime Minister said.

Abdallah Makki Muslih al-Rifa, also known as Abu Khadija, “was considered one of the most dangerous terrorists in Iraq and in the world,” said Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani.

US President Donald Trump said: “He was tirelessly tracked down by our war intrepids.”

The US Central Command (Centcom) published on X which seemed to be a video of the strike, which said it was made Thursday in the Iraqi province of Al Anbar.

Abdallah Makki Muslih al-Rifa was the most high-end decision-making organization in IS and was responsible for operations, logistics and planning carried out by IS, said US central command.

He also directed a large part of the finance for the World Organization of the Group, added Centcom.

Publishing on his social platform Truth, President Trump said: “His miserable life was dismissed, with another member of the Islamic State, in coordination with the Iraqi government and the Kurdish regional government. Peace by force!”
