An X user known as ‘Gujju Tweeter’ recently sparked online discussions with a post contrasting his experiences living in two Indian cities. The post began with the blunt remark: “Ahmedabad sucks”, as the user reflected on their time in Bengaluru compared to their life in the Gujarati city.

Describing his decision to move to Ahmedabad after living in Bengaluru as a “big mistake”, he was candid about his thoughts.

“It was a livelier life in Bengaluru than here (Ahmedabad),” he shared, highlighting the vibrancy he felt in Bengaluru and finds lacking in Ahmedabad.

“I lived among the smartest people in their field. Simple living and a robust setup. Ahmedabad is all show off and seeing how family run businesses (even IT companies) simply exploit unfriendly employees. No professional ethics and many subtle mentality problems All the show-offs, and mostly the rich, live on “borrowed money,” he added.

The user didn’t stop there and went on to say that Ahmedabad lacks coworking culture.

In response to a suggestion from techie Abhinav Baldha to explore cafes, coworking spaces, and meetups to find community, the user shared his disappointment. He replied: “I tried that too, the coworking culture is not present here. Meetups also, they discuss “Hello world” topics, basics that don’t make sense. Yes, there are great people and experts on the subject, they are exiled or avoid meeting such a poor crowd.

As these comments about Ahmedabad were circulated online, the post sparked a wave of reactions from netizens, with more than 100 responses flooding into X, as users shared their own views on the city.

Supporting user that of Ahmedabad.” Another added, “Vadodara and Surat are better cities than Ahmedabad. Being a Gujarati, I never liked Ahmedabad.”

One X user suggested that Ahmedabad’s image was artificially boosted, saying: “Ahmedabad is being pushed by the government to be cool.” Meanwhile, another shared a personal experience of moving to the city: “We moved from Bangalore to Ahmedabad and have been staying there since 2021. My experiences are different since I work from home and have very limited interactions with the public, from ordering groceries to milk. “Ahmedabad has nice roads, but it’s hard to find a house to rent if you’re not vegetarian, not in the south.”
