Lucas Bergvall says that receiving the praise from Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, is a pleasant experience.

The young Tottenham midfielder obtained the admiration of the Spanish coach following his impressive display against City at the end of February, despite the spurs at a 1-0 defeat at home.

While Tottenham endured a frustrating evening, Bergvall’s performance in the midfielder stood out as a highlight for the side of Angel Postcoglou.

Its impact on the game drew the attention of Guardiola, who spoke strongly of the Swedish international during his post-match press conference.

“Bergvall, every time he has the ball and short, he is unstoppable,” said Guardiola.

“Spence, Pedro Porro, Udogie, Kulusyvski, son. It’s an incredible physical team with a clear idea to play, and they play really well.”

Currently in international service with Sweden, Bergvall has been asked about Guardiola’s remarks and has shared his point of view on the reception of such recognition.

“Of course, it’s fun, but overall, it doesn’t really matter,” he told SVT Sport. “I’m just trying to play football and develop myself all the time and help the team. It’s always fun to praise and you should take it. But I try not to put the accent on this subject. ”

Despite Tottenham’s difficulties this season, the club seated in 14th place in the Premier League, the emergence of Bergvall and his compatriot Archie Gray provided a certain optimism.

Postcoglou had to sail in a season in the grip of injuries, and Bergvall thinks that the circumstances were particularly difficult for some players.

“I don’t think it’s a fair season to be honest. Not considering the damage we have undergone. I don’t know what is the reason, but as we talked about with Dejan [Kulusevski]There are many who have played an incredible number of minutes. It is not human, so of course, it is an important factor. »»

On the international scene, Bergvall made four senior appearances for Sweden but has not yet started a match.

This will soon change, because the coach of the national team Jon Dahl Tomasson confirmed that he will be in the departure formation for the friendly match of Sweden against Luxembourg.

“It’s fun, but it’s not something I thought so much,” said Bergvall. “Jon and I spoke a little but nothing more specific, we will do it during the days here, I think. I will play as I did in Tottenham and be able to contribute as much as possible.”
