Baldoni argued that if the tabloid had properly reviewed the communications, “its reporters would have seen compelling evidence that it was Lively, not the plaintiffs, who had engaged in a calculated smear campaign.”

Part of Baldoni’s trial, which E! News obtained, reads as follows: “This lawsuit aims to maintain the Times responsible for its role in this smear campaign, but the plaintiffs are not finished. There are other bad actors involved, and make no mistake: This won’t be the last trial.”
