Alec Radford, a researcher who helped develop many IA technologies from Openai, has been assigned to appear in a copyright against the AI startup, According to a legal file on Tuesday.
The file, submitted by a lawyer for the complainants to the American district court in the northern district of California, said that Radford had received an assignment on February 25.
Radford, who left Openai at the end of last year to continue independent research, was the main author of the Fundamental Research Document of OpenAI on pre-formulated generative transformers (GPT). GPTS underpins the most popular OpenAi products, including the Chatbot platform fed by AI of the Company, Chatgpt.
Radford joined Openai in 2016, a year after the foundation of the company. He worked on several models of the company’s GPT series, as well as on a voice recognition model, Whisper, and Dall-E, the company image generator model.
The copyright affair, “Re Openai Chatgpt Litigation”, was brought by books of books, including Paul Tremblay, Sarah Silverman and Michael Chabon, who alleged that Optaai had violated their copyright using their work to train his AI models. The complainants also argued that the Chatppt has broken their works by generously quoting these works without award.
Last year, the court rejected two of the complaints from the complainants against Openai, but authorized the request for direct counterfeiting to move forward. OpenAi maintains its use of data protected by copyright for training equitable use.
Redford is not the only high -level character to whom the lawyers of the authors are trying to argue. The complainants’ lawyers also moved to oblige the Dario Amodei and Benjamin Mann deposit, both former Openai employees who left the company to start anthropogenic. Amodei and Mann fought the requests, saying that they are too heavy.
An American magistrate judge governed this week that Uldei must sit for hours of questioning on the work he has done for Openai in two copyrights, one of which case deposited by the authors guild.
