The season 1 finale of Landman surprised viewers by including an appearance by Oscar-nominated actor Andy Garcia as cartel leader Gallino.
Landman is the latest TV series from Taylor Sheridan, the man behind hit shows like Yellow stone And 1923. The show is set in the oil fields of West Texas and is based on the documentary podcast Booming citywhich told the history of the West Texas oil boom.
Season 1 starred Billy Bob Thornton, who was praised for his role as Tommy Norrisan oil crisis executive trying to take his company to the top. He worked alongside Demi Moore as Cami Miller, Ali Larter as Angela Norris, Michelle Randolph as Ainsley Norris, and Jon Hamm as Monty.
Chaos broke out in the last episode from the season where the cartel kidnapped and tortured Tommy. However, Gallino ultimately saved Tommy and proposed an alliance – and the people settled on X (formerly Twitter) to share their shock over Garcia’s appearance on the show.

In an interview with Variety published January 12, Thornton and Landman Co-creator Christian Wallace revealed what Garcia’s appearance in the season 1 finale means for the future of the series.
“Andy is a great guy and a great actor, and when we shot those scenes at the end of the last episode, it was so good, because we kind of had two old veterans going head-to-head,” Thornton said.
“It was quite an experience, and I have to say every moment was real. Tommy is now dealing with someone who is really smart. The other guys were hired to work for him, but now Tommy is talking to the man himself There are pros and cons to this, since he’s so smart, who knows what Tommy will get caught in?
Wallace added: “The cartel and the oil industry are sort of these strange neighbors living side by side in West Texas. Now Andy’s character thinks he’s going to make a change and use that proximity to ‘a way that could benefit him.’
Will there be a Landman Season 2?
As of this writing, it has not been announced whether the series will be renewed for a second season, but the stars are hoping that it will.
“I hope so. Stay tuned. That’s all I can say,” Hamm said during an appearance on CNNthe New Year’s Eve special when Andy Cohen asked if Landman would be renewed.
Randolph, one of the stars of the series, previously spoke to News week on the possibility of Landman back for a highly anticipated second edition.
“I think there’s so much more story to tell, so if we manage to do a season 2, I know everyone would be excited to do it,” she said. “I don’t think anyone wants to stop telling this story.”
Although season 2 has yet to be publicly announced, Moore said Deadline in May 2024, that she is “excited that we are starting the second which will take place early next year.”
