The current dispute between the Lodha brothers, son of the Minister of Maharashtra Mangalprabhat Lodha, was resolved. The brothers, who lead Macrotech and House of Abhinandan Lodha developers, settled their differences on April 14, according to declarations of the two parties.
The dispute was born on the use of the Lodha brand, with Macrotech developers approaching the High Court of Bombay against House of Abhinandan Lodha in January, alleging misuse of the brand. Judge Arif Doctor of the Bombay High Court advised both parties to ask mediation to solve the problem.
The promoters of Macrotech and House of Abhinandan Lodha published a joint statement announcing that Abhishek Lodha and Abhinandan Lodha resolved all the outstanding questions under the direction of their parents. It was agreed that Macrotech Developers Ltd. (MDL) holds exclusive rights on the brand names “Lodha” and “Lodha Group”, while Abhinandan Lodha maintains exclusive rights to “House of Abhinandan Lodha” (Hoabl).
The two entities are separated and communicate this largely. None of the two brother has rights or complaints in the companies in the other.
In January, the promoters of Macrotech brought an action in front of the high court of Bombay against Hoabl for a brand counterfeiting, asking for appropriate loss and damages.
The two brothers thanked Judge RV Raveendran (Retd.) For his advice during mediation and Judge Arif Doctor for having encouraged mediation.
Macrotech developers, known to sell properties under the “Lodha” brand, is a leading real estate company in India. Meanwhile, Hoabl focuses on the development of residential plots in major cities.
