The 45 -day Maha Kumbh Mela, one of the largest religious rallies in the world, ends today with the last drop in the PrayaGraj triveni Sangamraj on Maha Shivratri. A record of 63.36 crosses of people from all walks of life participated in the sacred event of this year, marking unprecedented participation.

Large arrangements have been taken for the last sacred decrease today, which started before dawn. Since Monday, the faithful have arrived in large numbers for the last “Amrit Snan”, supposed to offer spiritual purification.

The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 had a particular meaning due to a rare celestial alignment which occurs only once every 144 years. This cosmic event is supposed to offer an exceptional opportunity for spiritual renewal and a deeper link with the divine.

The devotees also consider this unique Kumbh for its convergence with Maha Shivratri, more amplifying its spiritual impact. The belief is that taking a plunge during this period cleanses the sins of several lives and brings a moksha closer (liberation).

When is the next Maha Kumbh?
The next Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj will take place in 2037, continuing the 12 -year cycle of the festival. The main swimming dates for the 2037 Maha Kumbh include:

  • Makara Sankranti: January 14, 2037
  • Mauni Amavasya: January 16, 2037
  • Vasant Panchami: January 21, 2037

The event will take place again at Triveni Sangam, attracting millions of faithful from around the world.

Kumbh Melas to come before 2037
For those who missed Maha Kumbh this year, there are other Kumbh Melas important in the coming years:

  • 2027 – Nashik (Purna Kumbh Mela): scheduled between July 17 and August 17, with the main event held in Timbakeshwar. The Maharashtra authorities have already started preparations, promising technologically advanced experience.
  • 2033 – Haridwar (Maha Kumbh Mela): another major religious gathering with a large participation expected.
