From April, Mahindra and Mahindra will increase the prices of its SUVs and commercial vehicles up to 3%. The company said that it had absorbed most of the input costs, but was now forced to transmit part of the burden to buyers.
The rise in prices will vary between different models of SUVs and commercial vehicles, said Mahindra in his official declaration.
This comes in the heels of a robust February for the automaker based in Mumbai. Mahindra said total automobile sales of 83,702 vehicles last month, marking a 15% increase from one year to the next, including exports. In its flagship segment of utility vehicles, interior sales amounted to 50,420 units – up 19% – while total UV sales, including exports, reached 52,386 units. Sales of commercial vehicles on the domestic market were 23,826 units.
The company has also experienced a strong traction in its tractor segment. The total sales of tractors (national and exports) affected 25,527 units in February 2025, against 21,672 units a year ago. Interior sales in themselves reached 23,880 units of 20,121 in February 2024, while exports for the month amounted to 1,647 units.
Mahindra joins a growing list of car manufacturers that increase the prices of vehicles from April, citing the increase in input costs. Various car manufacturers, including Maruti Suzuki India, Hyundai Motor, Tata Motors, Kia India, BMW and Honda Cars India, announced an increase in vehicle prices next month, citing the increase in input costs.
Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motor India, two of Mahindra’s biggest competitors, also announced price increases from April. Kia, Honda and Tata Motors have already announced price increases due to the increase in input costs. Luxury car manufacturers like BMW have also confirmed price increases next month.
