Manchester City have strengthened their defensive ranks with the signing of Brazilian defender Vitor Reis, 19, from Palmeiras.
The club have agreed a deal worth £29.6million for the promising young talent, who has signed a four-and-a-half year contract.
Reis, a right-footed central defender, made 22 appearances for Palmeiras and represented Brazil at under-17 level.
“It’s a dream come true, since I was little I always dreamed of having an opportunity like this and playing for a club as big as City,” Reis said.
“The scale of Manchester City, its history and its structure. When the door knocked and it was Manchester City, I knew there was nowhere to go.

“I am a very enthusiastic athlete, with a great desire to win.
“So you can all be sure that I will go out and give my all on the pitch.
“I have a lot of desire and determination and I am a player who likes challenges, good headers and good passes.
“City like to play with a lot of possession, I like to play that way too.
“City showed me that confidence when they decided to sign me and that gives me a lot of confidence.”
City’s Premier League title defense has been derailed by injury problems this season, particularly in defence.
The club have already signed Uzbek defender Abdukodir Khusanov this window and are reportedly finalizing a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush before the transfer window closes.
