Bruno Fernandes says the current malaise at Manchester United is ‘not acceptable’ and any player who thinks that is the case should be thanked.

United collapsed to a dismal 3-1 home defeat to Brighton yesterday, their sixth defeat in their last nine league matches, after which head coach Ruben Amorim admitted it may have been the ” Worst team in Manchester United history.

Amorim’s team was once again rudderless and captain Fernandes demanded that the players fix the problem, and quickly.

He told Sky Sports: “I understand the perspective from the outside. But we can’t get comfortable thinking that everything is okay. This is not the case.

“I’m not here to lose games and be in the position we’re in right now. But I know that no one in this dressing room is and if anyone is, they can’t be here.

Brighton’s victory continued their dominance over United. The Seagulls have now won six of their last seven meetings, including all three at Old Trafford, which did not interest Portuguese midfielder Fernandes.

He added: “It doesn’t matter to me. This is another loss for us. It doesn’t matter how many times they won against us.

“I remember in the past they didn’t win a game here. It won’t change anything.

“The main thing that will change for us is that we didn’t get the three points today. Congratulations to them, they played a good match and they deservedly won the match.

United have the chance to bounce back on Thursday night when they host Rangers in the Europa League. Their next league match is next Sunday at Fulham.
