Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim said his team lacked steam in Spain while their trip to the Europa League at Real Sociedad put an end to All Square.

United came out of the FA Cup in Fulham last weekend and languished in 14th place in the Premier League, so you have to win the competition to play in Europe next season.

Joshua Zirkzee pulled them ahead, but Sociedad scored with their first target shot while the penalty of the 70th minute of Mikel Oyarzabal sealed a 1-1 draw before next week’s return match in Old Trafford.

“It could be better but could be worse because in the last 20 minutes, I felt the really tired team,” said the united head coach.

“Until the penalty, I felt that the team controlled the match. After the goal, we were so close to the second goal with the transitions. You felt in the stadium that they were nervous.

“But in the end, the penalty has changed a little and when the momentum has changed, we are more easily tired. We take the game at Old Trafford and try to win there.

“We create chances, but sometimes you do not see it in the XG (expected objectives) because we manage not to shoot, but the great opportunity is there and you can see it.

“We have transitions, we have situations and sometimes we miss something. They are really impatient to score goals and win matches. »»

The boss of Sociedad Imanol Alguacil said: “We are very satisfied with how we contributed during the match. We are still alive. We know it will be difficult, but we have a lot of excitement. »»
