More than 50 universities are the subject of an alleged racial discrimination in survey as part of President Donald Trump’s campaign toPrograms of final diversity, equity and inclusionLet her officials say they exclude American white and Asian students.
The Department of Education announced the new surveys on Friday, a month afterMake a memoHave the American schools and colleges warn that they could lose federal money on “preferences based on breed” in admissions, scholarships or any aspect of student life.
“Students must be assessed according to merit and accomplishment, not harmful by the color of their skin,” said Linda McMahon, Secretary of Education. “We will not give in to this commitment.”
Most of the new requests are focused on college partnerships with the doctoral project, a non-profit organization that helps students from under-represented groups to obtain business diplomas in order to diversify the business world.
Department officials declared that the group limits the eligibility based on race and that the colleges which associate themselves with “engage in exclusive race practices in their higher education programs”.
The group of 45 colleges faced with a meticulous examination on the links with the doctoral project includes major public universities such as Arizona State, Ohio State and Rutgers, as well as prestigious private schools like Yale, Cornell, Duke and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
A message sent to the doctoral project was not immediately sent.
Six other colleges are the subject of a survey for granting “unacceptable puree scholarships,” said the department, and another is accused of organizing a program that separates students on the basis of the breed.
These seven are: Grand Valley State University, Ithaca College, the New England College of Optometry, the University of Alabama, the University of Minnesota, the University of Florida du Sud and the University of Tulsa School of Medicine.
The ministry did not say which of the seven was the subject of an investigation for allegations of segregation.
The service note of February 14 of the republican administration of Trump was a radical expansion of a decision of the Supreme Court in 2023 thatbarred collegesof the use of the breed as a factor in admissions.
This decision focused on admission policies at Harvard and the University of North Carolina, but the Department of Education said it would interpret the decision to ban policies based on race in all aspects of education, both in kindergarten schools in the 12th year and in higher education.
In the memo, Craig Train, interim assistant secretary for civil rights, said that the efforts of diversity, equity and inclusion of schools and colleges “passed the smuggling of racial stereotypes and an explicit race conscience in daily training, programming and discipline”.
The memo is disputed in the federal proceedings of the two largest teachers’ unions in the country. Pursuits say that the memo is too vague and violates the rights to the freedom of expression of educators.
