Samsung is bringing grocery shopping features to its AI-enabled refrigerators.
US customers will have the ability to restock their groceries “directly from the screens” of their Samsung Bespoke refrigerators thanks to an upcoming feature that combines Samsung’s “proprietary food recognition technology” with Samsung’s programming interface. Instacart product matching applications (API), the company said Thursday.
This feature, from a recently announced “multi-year” partnership between Samsung and the online grocery service, will be launched on Samsung Bespoke 2025 refrigerators “with different types of screens” and its “AI Vision Inside” technology.

It will be available on Samsung’s older AI Family Hub+ refrigerators, provided they have its food recognition technology, this year as well, according to Samsung.

The company said eligible existing models will receive this feature via an in-network update. The timetable for this operation is still being developed.
“The combination of Samsung’s key technology and Instacart’s exceptional online grocery shopping platform will be a great example of how a partnership can create a new level of convenience,” said Jeong Seung Moon , general manager of Samsung Electronics, in a press release.
Samsung also described the Instacart partnership as the company’s “latest step in Samsung’s journey to add value to the user experience by working hand-in-hand with other forward-thinking technology leaders.”
Its “AI Vision Inside” is already helping owners track food in their fridge. To do this, it relies on cameras and deep learning models, according to the company.

Technology can identify up to more than three dozen food products, while “the names and expiration dates of unrecognized food products must be set manually,” according to Samsung.
Upcoming functionality will expand “A vision of AI insideby “enabling restocking via Instacart, directly from the refrigerator,” he says.
When this feature launches, US owners of Samsung Bespoke refrigerators will need to have a Samsung and Instacart account, as well as a Wi-Fi connection to take advantage of it, according to the company’s press release. They will also have to live in an area where Instacart operates.

The company said the 32-inch AI Family Hub+ and the soon-to-be-revealed 9-inch AI Home will be among the 2025 bespoke models that will debut. functionality.

The custom-built refrigerator with a 9-inch AI home screen is expected to be showcased at CES 2025 along with a host of other high-tech Samsung home appliances. Samsung previously described the 9-inch AI Home-enabled custom refrigerator as a device that “targets consumers who want the advanced features of the Family Hub in a more compact size.”
CES 2025 will take place from January 7 to 10.
