Even if India seeks to accelerate negotiations for trade agreements with several countries, the India-UK free trade agreement could take some time and that official sources have stressed that there is no fixed deadline for this.

“Negotiations are still underway on India-UK FTA in order to finalize it as soon as possible. But rather than simply seeking rapid solutions, the effort is to solve all the problems of this trade agreement,” said the source.

Problems including visas for qualified Indian professionals and the totalization agreement are among the main requests waiting for New Delhi while the United Kingdom continues to be higher on the market. Meanwhile, the bilateral investment treaty is also under discussion.

The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, is currently in Europe and has finished a two-day trip to the United Kingdom on April 29. The visit was to give an incorporation to India-UK FTA, among other questions during his meeting with Jonathan Reynolds UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade.

“Arrived in London for two days of engaging discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral trade and investment. In my first commitment, I kept a productive meeting with the British Secretary of State for Business and Trade to advance the negotiations of the free trade agreements, strengthening our commitment to deepen the economic ties of India-UK.

There was an advertisement on the trade agreement. On April 29, Goyal posted: “It was a pleasure to meet the Chancellor of the chessboard with the Secretary of State for Business and Trade, in the United Kingdom. Had a fruitful exchange on the progress of the economic links of India-Uk and to rely on our solid partnership. ”

As part of his current visit, Goyal is now at the OSLA where he holds talks for the implementation of the Commercial and Economic Partnership Agreement of India-Efta (TEPA) and strengthening bilateral links. He will also visit Brussels to make discussions on the FTA India-UE.

India and several other countries have worked to accelerate free trade transactions to follow in the middle of the current trade in the United States. While the United States has reached a 90-day break on reciprocal prices, countries around the world are in talks to extend the markets through commercial pacts.
