Angel Postcoglou admitted that few changes after Tottenham were thrown out of the FA Cup by Aston Villa.
The 2-1 defeat marks a second cup release in three days for the London Club, after losing against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup on Thursday.
And although Postcoglou was disappointed with the performance, he says that it is the story of their season and that they simply have to reproduce and leave.
He said: “Obviously disappointed that we do not progress. It was not an excellent start, it’s the last thing you want, and we really had trouble getting control. Then we had a huge chance at 1-0 that we did not take to equalize.
“We got better playing, but we unfortunately failed. When you go down a goal, it gives the momentum and the confidence of the opposition. You want to fight against control early and we didn’t do it.
“We were still in the match [at half-time]. We just needed to hang on. The second half was much more like us. The second goal made him a little more difficult, but I always felt that we were a threat – unfortunately not enough.

It remains to be seen if President Daniel Levy will press the relaxation and Liquera Postcoglou after a lamentable week, but with the players on the way back of the injury, his judgment can be reserved for the direct elimination stages of the Europa League.
