In an incident that raises concerns about data security and potential violations in third -party logistics networks keeping client orders, a Reddit article has revealed a new scam that seems to go around. According to the Reddit user, they placed an order on the official Rabbit website, thehouseofrare.com. The user received a suspect call the next morning from a person claiming to come from the brand’s distribution team, requesting a second payment for their prepaid order due to “internal problems”.
The crook, who identified as Ria Sharma, had access to sensitive order details, including the name, customer address and exact control value (14,000 ₹). She insisted that the original order could not be processed and asked the Customer to place a new order and pay again, promising a refund for initial payment.
Asked, the appellant became defensive and said that the order was “pending” and could neither be sent nor canceled. By refusing to comply, the Reddit user was threatened with indefinite delays before the call was abruptly disconnected.
After raising the question, Rare Rabbit confirmed that it was a scam, said the position. “Rare Rabbit came into contact and confirmed that it was a scam. They suspect that their local delivery partners are doing this,” said the post.
This case highlights a growing trend where fraudsters use personal order information to defraud customers without distrust to make double payments. These scams are particularly alarming because they suggest an initiate data leak, potentially from the brand’s systems or its logistics partners. Many similar cases have been shared by other redditors in response to the position.
“Most of the scam is possible due to low -level employees that provide all the details. Whether it’s electronic commerce, the bank, anything. Be careful while sharing your details on websites,” said a user.
How to stay safe from similar scams
Check with the official channels: Always check the order status on the official website or contact customer service directly.
Never reimburse an order: no legitimate electronic business company asks customers to repay a prepaid order due to “internal problems”.
Report suspect calls: if you receive an appeal like this, report it to the company and the authorities to prevent others from falling victims.
Beware of false customer support: crooks often pose as brand representatives. Always use the official contact details of the website.
