Famous restaurants are all the rage among foodies and social media users, not only because of the popularity of their owners, but also because of their mind-boggling prices.
A social media user recently called out One8 Commune, owned by Virat Kohli, for selling subpar quality food at extremely high prices. The user shared a photo of a corn starter with very small quantity dipping sauce and wrote on X: “I paid Rs 525 for this today at One8 Commune (sic).”
The social media post left netizens divided, with some wondering why she ordered the food item. Others, however, agreed with the user and said that the starter indeed seemed subpar considering the price.
One user wrote: “Order kyun kiya! Menu mein likha hota hai naa.” “Officially you are rich,” said a second user. “You knew this before you ordered so stop crying,” a third user commented.
“You paid for the ‘community’ created by One8 🙂 ~ the people hanging out, the music, the vibe… coming from the high rent, above average staff salary, etc, etc,” one user explained .
“Looks like a 6th strain salad,” one user said. “Bhutta fancy (sic),” mentioned another user.
“Bhai ngl doesn’t look very attractive either,” another user commented. “I just didn’t like this place. First, they have issues with the chappals (Birkenstocks). Second, every dish we ate was disappointing. The price didn’t justify the product,” another user wrote .
Sneha, however, was not the only user to share her grouse with One8 Commune. Another user named Sumukh Rao criticized the restaurant for not allowing him in because he was wearing sandals.
He further said that the restaurant did not have a physical menu, while the taste of most of the dishes ordered was comparable to that available in most pubs.
“The food is on par with most pubs. The hummus was good. The jackfruit tacos were literally tortillas with jackfruit chips on top lol. Terrible. The mushroom dimsum was good and the pizza was good too .But I’ve had much better food than that too at lower prices.
