In a unique effort to reduce “exorbitant” wedding expenses, six brothers in Pakistan tied the knot with six sisters in a joint ceremony. The event, held in Punjab province, was reportedly planned over a period of a year, with the brothers waiting until their youngest brother turned 18 to proceed. According to Khaama Pressthe gathering brought together more than 100 guests.

The bride and groom expressed their desire to promote simplicity in marriage, aligning with Islamic teachings. “We wanted to set an example,” the older brother said. “In many cases, people sell their land just to pay for the wedding expenses. The common wedding ceremony in Punjab notably took place without dowry, further emphasizing its simplicity.

Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh, an unusual domestic dispute is making headlines. A woman filed for divorce just 40 days after her marriage, citing her husband’s extreme lack of personal hygiene as the reason. According to India todaythe wife claimed that her husband only bathed once or twice a month, which led to unbearable body odor and made cohabitation intolerable.

Seeking help from the family counseling center in Agra, she said her husband’s refusal to maintain basic hygiene had led to constant arguments. She said she could no longer bear living in such conditions.

When questioned by authorities, the husband admitted that he usually only bathed once or twice a month. To compensate for his lack of regular baths, he revealed that he sprinkled himself with Gangajal (holy water of the Ganges) every week. He also claimed that during the 40 days of their marriage, he washed six times at his wife’s insistence, far more frequently than his usual routine.

A few weeks after their marriage, increasing arguments led the woman to return to the parental home. Following this, her family filed a complaint of dowry harassment with a local police station and also initiated divorce proceedings against the husband.
