New Zealand takes an early advance in the T20 series at five games after the Pakistan striker collapsed for less than 100 points in Hagley Oval.

Pakistan fell to a defeat of nine gates during the first T20 international against New Zealand in Christchurch after failing to defend a meager score of 91.

Tourists started the five-game series in a disastrous manner on Sunday, reduced to 11-4 at the end of the fifth after the imposing Paceman Kyle Jamieson headed with the new ball.

They were finally dismissed for their lowest score in T20 soil on New Zealand soil and the local team had few problems to answer with 92-1 out of 10.1 Overs.

Jamieson, who was then appointed man of the match, claimed three of the first four counters to finish with 3-8 out of four overs.

The new Balle partner Jacob Duffy later returned to the sleeves to sweep the tail and, like Jamieson, said T20 figures in a career of 4-14 out of 3.4 Overs.

Pakistan has never recovered from their superior collapse after being sent on Oval Hagley terrain offering a start of life, with only three players reaching double figures.

Captain newly installed Salman Agha scored 18 and put 46 for the fifth window with the top scorer Khushdil Shah, who played for tourists after hitting three six in his 32 balls of 30 balls.

Jahandad Khan scored 17 at a racing ball before the sleeves end with eight balls again to be upset.

The lowest T20 score in Pakistan in New Zealand was 101 all during a 95-point defeat in Wellington in 2016.

The opener Tim Seifert took New Zealand for a flying start, with 44 out of 29 balls, hitting seven four and a six.

Finn Allen on the 29th and Tim Robinson out of 18 finished the pursuit of the 11th first ball.

The second match is in Dunedin on Tuesday.
