Panamanian President José Raul Mulino has rejected US President-elect Donald Trump’s threats to regain control of the Panama Canal, calling them unfounded and affirming Panama’s sovereignty over the waterway. Trump, who has criticized Panama’s management and expressed concerns about China’s influence, warned that the United States could demand the canal’s return if operations were not “safe and reliable.”
