Party City, Big Lots, Macy’s and Joann enter final days of store closing sales

While entering the last two weeks of its sale, Party City announced that it had reduced prices by 80%, trying to attract customers to buy its inventory. However, there does not seem to be any purchase option on your website.

Joann, a large craft retail chain, announced in February 2025 that its 800 stores would close, leaving the 19,000 employees of the unemployed company, according to Axios.

“Since it became a private company in April, the board of directors and the management team have continued to execute initiatives at the top and bottom of the line to manage costs and generate value,” said acting CEO Michael Prendergast, in a press release.

The craft retail chain was founded in 1943 and started as a single showcase in Cleveland, Ohio. Joann became a public in 1969 and in 1998, he was the largest retailer of the genre in the United States, Axios reported.

To date, Joann offers up to 50% reduction in its inventory and seems to sell items online.

CoreSIGHT Research, a research and advice company that focuses on retail and technology, predicts that up to 15,000 stores could close the United States this year, more than double the 7,325 American stores that closed in 2024, according to a press release scattered by Business Wire.
