Ange Postecoglou believes he still has the support of Tottenham fans despite the club occupying 11th place in the Premier League.

Yesterday’s 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest means Spurs have lost four of their last five league matches ahead of Sunday’s home game against Wolves.

Postecoglou has been criticized for refusing to change his approach, promising to stick to his all-out attack philosophy despite refusing to reap the rewards.

Despite their struggles, Spurs fans have yet to turn against the Australian and he is confident he retains their support.

“They love their football club, they care about their football club and they want their football club to succeed. They make those feelings and emotions visible,” Postecoglou said.

“I have felt nothing but support since I have been here. I still feel like the support is there. I will continue to do what I think is the right thing to bring success to this football club, that doesn’t change.

“It is a difficult task at the moment due to our situation, but like most things that are quite difficult to get through, it is only temporary, we will get through this and come out stronger.”

Postecoglou has not been helped by a long injury list, with Ben Davies now set to miss “a few weeks” and Radu Dragusin struggling to be fit for the weekend after limping off at the City Ground. First-choice central defenders Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are also absent.

Wolves benefit from new manager’s rebound

It’s not ideal with resurgent Wolves heading to north London after two wins under new boss Vitor Pereira, including last night’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester United at Molineux.

Postecoglou said of his Portuguese counterpart: “Another good challenge for us. They have a new manager in Vitor [Pereira] whom I know quite well because we have met several times in Asia. They obviously got a great result last night. They certainly have quality players who can hurt you. We saw it last year.

“A really important match for us at home. Look, we’re getting through this period as best we can, but we certainly need to go out there on Sunday, play our football and get a result to make sure we get some momentum into the new year.
