Tottenham head coach, Ange Postcoglou, praised Manchester City before his meeting on Wednesday evening.

The Spurs’ owner has already overcome the Premier League champions twice this season, once in the League Cup and again at Etihad in November.

But the Australian is well aware of the threat that the part of Pep Guardiola poses, especially when it is against.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference, Postcoglou said: “Yes, look, it’s always a challenge when you play the city and they challenge you in a way that others clubs do not do so in terms of football.

“I know for them, they go through a raw trotting, but their football is always a real challenge against which to play, but it is a great challenge. This is what you want and you want to measure yourself.

“They will come here and try to play, to be dominant on the ball and we want to be dominant, but you know against Man City, you cannot be and it is impossible to be dominant in all facets.

“You are still looking forward to taking up the challenge. Man City is an exceptional football club, a big manager, has always obtained great footballers and still plays a really difficult football for any opponent.

“We enjoyed our matches against them, whether this year or last year. They will try to win, they will try to play expansively and we will try to do the same. It’s going to be a good test for us.

A victory would mark four consecutive Premier League for the Spurs, their best series of forms all season.

They have moved away from the six inferior in recent weeks and up to 12th, although still far from European places.

But another victory, against City again, could still raise the atmosphere, especially with Micky Van de Ven, Cristiano Romero and Dominic Solanke, all returning from the injury next week.

He added: “Everyone rejects that we also lost two cup games in there, so it’s not exactly three in a row. We understand that there was also a disappointment in there.

“I think the last two games in particular have certainly encouraged us in terms of simply being able to revitalize the group. Whether guys who worked very hard during this period when we were really challenged or the guys who come back.

“There is just a very good energy around him. The guys who missed were very eager to contribute and you saw the enthusiasm that, Vicario, Brennan on weekends, Maddison returning, Destiny, these guys bought.

“It helped the rest of the group. I think we have benefited from it with the two weeks that we did not have matches in the middle of the week. So, all these things and then you get two victories, which makes people feel good and is something for us.
