Some eyebrows were raised when Claudio Ranieri was dragged out of retirement to take care of Roma for the third time.
The 73 -year -old man was attracted to the sofa by the idea of restoring calm at Giallorossi, who started the season with Daniele de Rossi in charge before being kidnapped for Ivan Juric, who only lasted 53 days at the helm.
Ranieri has not inspired an immediate transformation, but the Roma seem to have found their stride in recent weeks. They have been unbeaten in Serie A since December 15 and have won six of their last nine games to climb the ninth of the table.
Their European hopes depend on the second stage of the Europa League qualifying this evening against Porto in the Italian capital.

An equalizer of Francisco Moura denied Roma to Porto last week, the match ending 1-1, but we are convinced that Ranieri’s men will do the work this evening.
It is not a vintage Porto side and they are third in the Liga of Primeira, behind Benfica and the Sporting CP leaders.
They only won one of their last six in the league, 1-0 success in Farense on the weekend, graceful of another goal from Moura.
Double on the gala

The Turkish giants were hammered 4-1 by Az Alkmaar in the first step last week, which means that the gala must produce something special on the lawn at home.
