It is easy to forget that for each science fictional superproduction like The fifth element And InterstellarMuch more films fail and become punchlines, and yet, sometimes, everything you need for a failure to become a success, it is the passage of time. The prequels of Star Wars, formerly hated, are now considered classics; John Carter is a lost masterpiece, and Star Trek: Nemesis is always horrible because everything is not redeemed, but now, we can say without being mistaken that Valérian and the City of the Thousand Planets is a true cult classic science fiction. Although it was played in front of empty rooms in 2017, the film has always been one of the best streaming, making another appearance over several days in the top ten max.
Free yourself from monochromatic science fiction

Valerian is a very different type of science fiction Film that fully embraces the wild and wonderful side of the future, giving life to Alpha, a huge city filled with thousands of different species and with easy dimensions to different in space and time. Valérian (Dane Dehaan, better known today by the name of boring military officer Kenneth Nichols in Oppenheimer) and lauraline (Cara Delevingne) are partners of the United Human Federation Police when they find themselves mixed with a plot around the eradication of the Mul plant. On the way, there are betrayals, John Goodman Expressing the most sought after criminal in the galaxy and, in the best casting of all time, Rutger Hauer in the role of the president.
The adventure of Valérian and LaUraline takes them through exotic places which manage to appear magnificent and impressive, proving that science fiction should not necessarily be limited to a spaceship or to a facsimile of the earth and can rather be truly stranger. If there is one thing that the film does well and that has contributed to its recent success, it is the director Luc Besson, the same crazy genius behind The fifth elementunderstood how to make a visual show. Again, even if the visuals are imaginative and are not like anything of the last decade, the film was always a failure at the box office, and the total absence of alchemy between Dane and Cara is one of the main reasons.
Erroneous tracks

Dane Dehaan and Cara Delevingne both achieved excellent performances, but together, the two have less alchemy than Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis in Jupiter ascendantAnother science fiction flop waiting for its turn to be reassessed. Valérian and the City of the Thousand Planets Succeeded despite the two tracks on the power of the visual show, and you don’t even have to wait a long time, the opening sequence explaining how Alpha was born a fantastic job to establish good tone and explain the conceptual frame.
Luc Besson was the perfect director to adapt French comics Valerian and LaurelineThanks to his work passed on movies of high concept The fifth element And Lucie. These two films embrace the strange side of science fiction, in particular the final act of LucieBut neither of them compares to the explosion of fire exchanges miles above the surface of an extraterrestrial world at the top of energy platforms or frequently showing the real magnitude and the wonders of Alpha. Stay for the visionary spectacle and creak teeth through dialogue.
Valérian and the City of the Thousand Planets is now broadcast on max.
