President-elect Donald Trump’s interest in making Canada the 51st U.S. state presents a “huge opportunity” to do “something big” on the world stage, according to “Shark Tank” star Kevin O’Leary.
“I think it’s a great idea, and I think the potential is huge and the opportunity is huge,” the Canadian investor said during an appearance on “The American Newsroom” Friday. “I think ultimately Canadians and Americans have the same DNA in terms of what they believe in… freedom.”

In an article published Wednesday by Truth Social, Trump mockingly referred to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as a “governor” and reiterated that Canada should be transformed into a U.S. state. The former president initially pitched the suggestion to Trudeau during a meeting at Mar-a-Lago after he threatened to impose drastic tariffs on Canadian goods, sources told Fox News.
“If Canada would become our 51st state“, their taxes would be cut by more than 60%, their businesses would immediately double in size, and they would be protected militarily like no other country in the world,” Trump wrote.

According to O’Leary, “more than half” of Canadians want to know more about the president-elect’s unique idea.
Rep. Dan Meuser, R-Pa., and O’Leary Ventures President Kevin O’Leary analyze the economic impact of a possible government shutdown and react to Justin Trudeau saying a Trump victory will not be easy for Canada.
“There are 41 million of them who want to know more, to understand what the proposal really is, because the concept of economic union has been circulating for 40 years. And it is logical. because the resources available to Canadawhat the United States needs. Especially electricity and water,” O’Leary said.

The president of O’Leary Ventures also believes that China’s rise poses a dilemma that could prompt neighboring countries to reach an agreement on the northern border.
“The Pentagon has been concerned about the northern border between China and the USSR for decades. And we had NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense) decades ago, but China was only ‘nothing, and now it’s a serious problem.’ issue.”

O’Leary concluded by detailing the “prize” that could be achieved through the union of the United States and Canada.
“I think it’s an idea and yes, maybe it was a joke at first. There’s something great going on here because if you found a way to bring these two countries together , it would be the most powerful country on Earth, the most powerful army on Earth, the most powerful resources and no adversary anywhere would attack it. »
