Family films “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” and “Mufasa” dominated the Christmas weekend box office, according to studio estimates released Sunday.
Paramount’s “Sonic” grossed $38 million, edging out Disney’s “Mufasa” by $37.1 million. However, because Christmas was on Wednesday, studios will also look at the five-day results. Since Christmas Day, “Mustafa” has earned $63.8 million while “Sonic” has earned $63.8 million.
