Surgent Studiosthe creator of Tales of Kenzera: Zaupartners with Pocketpair Publishing, the new publishing arm of Pocketpair (World PalCraftopia) to create a horror game scheduled for release in 2025.
Surgent continues conversations with potential partners around Using the project (revealed October 2024) and other projects set in the Tales of Kenzera universe. But this game is something new for the studio, launched by Dragon House actor Abubakar Salim.
This exciting new game, developed by Surgent Studios, will not be set in the Tales of Kenzera universe, the companies said.
Abubakar Salim, CEO of Surgent Studios, said in a statement: “Both Surgent and Pocketpair know how to take risks. We noticed a trend in the entertainment industry and Pocketpair gave us the opportunity to create a horror game around it. It will be short and weird, and we think players will be interested in what we have to say.

He said the company was still in serious conversations about other projects set in the Tales of Kenzera universe, but that it would be a standalone piece, “a milestone between where we came from and where we are going.”
John Buckley, head of Pocketpair Publishing, said in a statement: “As the games industry continues to grow, more and more games are struggling to get funded or greenlit. We think it’s a shame, because there are so many amazing creators and ideas out there that just need a little help to become amazing games.
He said Pocketpair was “immediately fascinated by Abubakar’s creative vision for a horror game about a subject he is uniquely qualified to explore.” Pocketpair Publishing’s ultimate goal is to find creators who are passionate about gaming and empower them to create fun new experiences for gamers around the world.
The game is expected to release later this year.
