The new leaders of Syria held a long -awaited national conference on Tuesday, which they presented as a “rare historical opportunity” to rebuild the country after the fall of former President Bashar Assad and almost 14 years of civil war. However, a new transitional government, aimed at being more inclusive and representative, should replace the current authorities with the acting president Ahmed Al-Sharaa, to stay in his position.
