ShopThe CEO, Tobi Lütke, expects its employees “are absolutely in advance” when it comes to using artificial intelligence In their daily tasks, according to a recent internal note shared with its X account on Monday.
In the memo, the co-founder of Shopify clearly indicates that “the effective use of AI is now a fundamental expectation of everyone at Shopify”.

It seems that expectations can also have an impact on the mandate of employees in Shopify if they are unable to deliver. Lütke noted that the use of AI will be part of the performance exams for employees.
“In a company that increases by 20 to 40% from one year to the next, you have to improve at least that each year just to be re -quilled. This goes for me and everyone,” he said in the note.
In addition, Shopify employees will now be required to prove why AI is unable to complete a task before asking to add roles or resources to their teams.
“Before requesting more workforce and resources, teams must demonstrate why they cannot get what they want to do using AI,” wrote Lütke. “What would this region look like if autonomous AI agents were already part of the team? This question can lead to really fun discussions and projects.”
Lütke noted throughout the note that senior leaders, including himself, will be subject to the same policies and practices as the rest of the company. Although he previously published “an appeal to action and an invitation to everyone to tinker with AI”, he is now eager to make this a requirement to obtain efficiency gains, unlock the tasks previously considered to be “incredible” and more.
“It is the fastest passage to the way the work is made that I saw in my career, and I was clear enough on my enthusiasm for that,” wrote Lütke in the memo.
It seems that another CEO wants to introduce itself. Ryan Petersen, CEO of Freight Forwarding Company Flexportresponded to Lütke’s publication in accordance with the feeling behind his note to buy employees.
“@Grok please rewrite this [as] A memo that I can claim that I wrote and sent to Flexport employees, ”wrote Petersen in Lütke’s responses. Grok is an Ai chatbot developed by Elon Musk’s XAI.
Flexport recently completed its first version of winter technology, which included a variety of tools intended to increase the efficiency of employees and business operations. At the time, Petersen told Sourcing Journal He expects that more flexport is able to automate and take advantage of AI, the greater his effort.
