Tesla sales fell in Europe in January, suggesting a decreasing demand for vehicles of the American automaker after its billionaire Elon Musk chief intensified its highly publicized interventions in the region’s policy.
The manufacturer EV sold only 9,900 units in Europe last month, a drop of more than 45% compared to the same period in 2024, according to data from the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association. Its overall share of new car recordings fell to 1%, compared to 1.8% over the same period.
The drop in Tesla’s market share comes after Musk’s unprecedented foray into EU policy, where he Supported the extreme right alternative for Germany (AFD) Before the country’s elections, causing a backlash on the continent. The figures include the EU, the United Kingdom and other markets, including Norway, one of the largest European markets for electric vehicles.

Global registrations on new vehicles on the continent fell 2.1% in January to 995,271.
