Tesla has taken an important step towards its expansion in India, apparently obtaining a privileged office space in the Bandra Kurla complex in Mumbai (BKC). The electric manufacturer led by Elon Musk rented a space of 4,003 square feet in the Maker Maxity building.
The licensee of the agreement, according to reports, is Tesla India Motor & Energy Pvt., Which currently operates from the Panchsheel business park in Viman Nagar de Pune. The concedent is Univco Properties LLP. As part of the rental agreement, Tesla India filed a deposit of RS 2.11 crore and pay RS 35.26 Lakh in monthly rent, with an annual climbing of 5%.
The agreement is valid for five years.

This decision comes in the midst of intensification of discussions surrounding Tesla’s entry into India. On February 13, Musk met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Washington, DC, fueling speculation on the long -awaited arrival of society. Since then, Tesla has listed 20 job offers across India – 15 in Mumbai and five in Pune – and actively explores exhibition hall locations in Mumbai and Delhi.
The launch of Tesla India should occur in the second half of 2025, the model should be the first offer. The vehicle is expected to be assessed between RS 60-70 Lakh, positioning it against entry-level electrical offers from Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi.
If Tesla’s prices remain above RS 50 Lakh, this could question the domination of German luxury manufacturers. If the price of the RS 25-35 Lakh range, competition would extend to Indian manufacturers like Tata Motors and Mahindra.
For Tesla, India could provide an essential boost. The company is faced with slowing down sales worldwide, with a drop in shipping on key markets such as the United States, Germany and China – where it already operates several factories. However, an immediate manufacturing plant in India seems unlikely, Tesla initially expected to import its vehicles.

The Tesla Model 3, the most affordable offer of the company, should cost between RS 35-40 Lakh in India. This estimate considers a basic price of around 35,000 USD (approximately RS 30.4 Lakh) in the United States, a reduction in import rights from 15 to 20% and additional costs such as road and insurance tax. A calculation suggests that the total cost of the possession of a 3 model in India could be approximately RS 45.5 Lakh, in factorization in road tax (RS 3.5 LAKH), in insurance (RS 1.75 LAKH) and an import right of 15% (RS 5.25 LAKH).
