According to legal documents obtained by the Daily Mail and seen by Us every week on Tuesday January 7, Emmanuel, who married The view co-host in 1998, is one of nearly 200 defendants included in the lawsuit filed in the Eastern District Court of New York on December 17, 2024.
Listed as “Emmanuel Hostin, MD,” the orthopedic surgeon, based at Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West hospitals in New York, according to Health in the United Statesis accused of federal insurance fraud and “receiving bribes by performing surgery and…billing a company that insured taxi companies and Uber and Lyft drivers,” as reported by Daily Mail.

The lawsuit reads: “Hostin knowingly provided fraudulent medical and other health care services, including arthroscopic surgeries. » The documents also allege that American Transit insurance company was then billed “in exchange for bribes and/or other compensation disguised as dividends or other cash distributions.”
Emmanuel responded to the allegations via his lawyer Daniel John Thwaitestelling the outlet that his client “denies all allegations.” Thwaites added that the lawsuit is “a broad, scattered, meritless lawsuit brought by an insurance company on the verge of bankruptcy.”
Thwaites added: “This is intended to intimidate and harass doctors from collecting care provided to American Transit policyholders and their passengers. American Transit rushed into the lawsuit without ever conducting an examination of Dr. Hostin or expressing any concerns to its attorneys. The real story here is that of an insurance company abusing the legal system to limit and restrict health care benefits to its policyholders and their passengers, and void its lawful obligations.
Emmanuel and Sunny, 56, reside in Purchase, New York, and share two children — a son, Gabe, born in 2002, and a daughter, Paloma, born in 2006.

Sunny, a lawyer and multiplatform journalist who joined The view as full-time co-host in 2016, has been outspoken about the various issues his family seen over the years. In January 2021, she revealed that Emmanuel’s parents had both died from COVID-19 a few weeks prior.
“Although I have chosen a very public career, as most of you know, those of you who know my husband, Manny, know that he is extremely private. But after speaking with him, he felt that from a public health standpoint, it was very important for me to share that we are deeply saddened that Manny lost both of his parents over the holidays,” Sunny said.
