Liverpool captain, Virgil Van Dijk, says it was also going to be difficult to beat Everton in their “Cup final”.

The Reds and Toffees played a thriller during the last confrontation at Goodison Park before Everton moved to their new stadium next season.

Liverpool had an advance of 2-1 before the last seconds of the match, but was amazed by a deceased James Tarkowski Volley in the 98th minute, although there were only five initially added.

A long Var review then allowed the objective to stand up, triggering the chaos on and off the field.

While the full -time whistle was blowing, Abdoulaye Doucoure shaped and celebrated in front of the support of a traveling Liverpool, and was closely followed by a furious Jones Curtis, who entered a piece with the midfield.

He caused the two players to be sent, with a slot machine also shown in a red for certain words that referee Michael Oliver after the whistle.

Thinking about the game, Van Dijk admitted that it was a difficult night, but Everton was always going to make things difficult in what he called their biggest game of the season.

He said, “Intense, it was always going to be intense. Many battles. Very disappointing to concede in the last second of the game, or even over time, but that’s what it is. It is not easy to accept it, especially in the way, but we take it and move on to something else.

“I think the referee played a big role in the game today in terms of certain challenges was delivered as faults and similar were not. In the end, it is simply disappointing to concede a very good strike, but disappointing.

“It is their cup final and they would try to do everything in their power to make us difficult. It’s a big boost for them but a blow for us.

“We have a lot of matches until the international break. We put ourselves in a very good position and this is due to hard work, quality and consistency. We just have to look at ourselves, don’t look at what others do, just try to focus on ourselves and be the best version of ourselves.

“We have put ourselves in a good position, let’s continue.”

Van Dijk also commented on the struggle between Jones and Doucoure, again pointing the finger of referee Oliver.

He added: “We saw how they celebrated the goal, they have all the right.

“I think Abdoulaye Doucoure wanted to provoke our fans, I think that’s what I saw and Curtis Jones did not think it was the right thing to do. And then you know what’s going on if there is a little fight.

“I did not think that the referee had under control the game. The two teams had to face it. »»
