Trump issues executive orders addressing lumber production

President Donald Trump On Saturday, signed two decrees which require an immediate expansion of American wood production and to fight against the threat of wood imports for national security.

Orders aim to update production advice, rationalize permits and assess the possible risks that imports pose national security.

A White House An official told Fox News that the president identified a supply and demand crisis in an industry in which the United States should be fully self-sufficient.

The decree notes that the production of wood, wood, paper, bioenergy and other wood products is crucial for Americans in the construction and production of energy.

Recent disasters underlined the administration, show the importance of forest and forest management projects.

Officials allegedly alleged that wood and wood policies in the Biden era had sparked forest fires and degraded fish and fauna habitats, while increasing construction and housing costs.

Exporters like Canada, Germany and Brazil pour wood into the US markets to the detriment of economic prosperity and national security, officials said.

A White House official said that dependence on the United States with regard to imports from these countries has increased eleven times in the past 30 years, despite an abundance of forest resources.

Agency leaders will be invited to improve the speed of approval of forest projects, to assess the future offer and to reduce the time of administrative approval.

Trump’s directive orders the Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick to initiate an investigation into national security on American wood under article 232 of the 1962 trade expansion law – the same law that Trump also used to impose global steel and aluminum import prices. The investigation must be completed within 270 days.

The manager said that all rates resulting from the probe would be added to the 14.5% of anti-dumping and anti-subventes of 14.5% existing on Canadian wooden wood.
