Diplomatic efforts to reach peace are underway this weekend in Tanzania. It will be the first time that Paul Kagame and Felix Tshisekedi have engaged in direct talks since the resurgence of the conflict. While the United Nations warned against regional escalation, the freezer hopes to get an immediate ceasefire out of the summit and the unconditional withdrawal of the M23 group and its Rwandan allies, but it is not clear if Kigali is willing to make these concessions.
