The United States Ministry of Justice told federal prosecutors to abandon their corruption file against the mayor of New York, Eric Adams.
The ordinance came from the interim vice-prosecutor, appointed by President Donald Trump, who declared that the indictment had “restricted” the mayor’s ability to approach “illegal immigration and violent crimes” in the city.
Adams, a democrat, recently established a closer relationship with Trump, a Republican, and told the police to cooperate with the president’s immigration raids. But he denies Trump about his case.
The mayor is accused of accepting illegal campaign funds and gifts in exchange for his influence as mayor. He pleaded not guilty to five accusations.
Prosecutors have not yet commented to indicate whether they intend to delete the case as requested. Any decision to do so must be officially subject to the court and approved by a judge.

The memo followed a meeting reported between Adams lawyers and federal prosecutors in New York.
Adams attended the presidential inauguration last month and soared for Florida for a meeting with Trump.
In recent weeks, the 64 -year -old mayor has ordered the city forces to cooperate with the federal immigration authorities during New York Fresh Raids.
