The protests of farmers culminated across Europe at the time of last year. The increase in production costs, unfair pricing, bureaucracy and foreign competition were among the motors of the movement. The European Commission responded with a set of measures and has now unveiled what it calls a “vision of agriculture and food”, the proposals coinciding with the annual show of agriculture which is held in Paris. We explore this strategy with the EU commissioner to agriculture and food, Christophe Hansen, as well as the major international commercial problems with which the agricultural sector is confronted for the moment.
