It looks like Marcus Rashford’s time at Man United is slowly but surely coming to an end, and former professional turned outspoken pundit Stan Collymore has suggested it’s not before his time.

Ruben Amorim clearly explained why he gave up Marcus Rashford of his recent Men Plain queues, and given the winger’s poor formdifficult to dispute the Portuguese’s reading of the situation.

Just 18 months ago, Rashford was one of the most successful players in the Premier League as he enjoyed a scintillating campaign under former manager, Erik ten Hag.

However, since then the player has failed to reach these dizzying heights. Stan Collymore thinks he knows the reason and what the solution to Rashford’s problems will be.

“Marcus Rashford should leave Manchester United. I’ve been saying it for probably a few years now, and he should either go abroad or to a progressive Premier League club,” he told CaughtOffside for his exclusive column.

“Would it be a West Ham or a Brighton or would it even be a Bournemouth? Would the Cherries go for a big fish and see if it could go to a smaller pond and just enjoy its football on the south coast? It’s not that ridiculous – but would they be able to afford it?

“I think there will be takers for Rashford, whether in Germany or Italy, but I’m not sure about Spain.

“He just needs to enjoy the game and love the game again, and I wonder if over the last five or six years he’s actually done that. He always seems to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders.

“For me, it’s really simple. You either go for a wild card in terms of Bournemouth or go abroad somewhere like Napoli or AC Milan.

Marcus Rashford’s salary will be a stumbling block

The stumbling block will of course be Rashford’s salary. According to Capologythe 27-year-old earns a whopping £300,000 per week, putting him level with captain Bruno Fernandes, and only behind Casemiro (£350,000 per week) in the pecking order.

That will almost certainly surpass the Premier League clubs mentioned by Collymore, and might even be too much for clubs like Milan and Napoli.

Ultimately, United may have to accept that they will lose a ton of money on a player who, despite not costing them a cent, ended up becoming a liability.
